Moulds and Tools Design

At Crossen Engineering, we design tools and moulds for legacy, current and future parts based on customers’ CAD models or drawings. Alternatively, we can reverse-engineer existing aerospace components on coordinate measuring machines using both touch-probe and laser-scanning data acquisition. The same metrology equipment, running under the industry-standard PC-DMIS operating system, verifies the tooling we make against CAD files supplied by customers or generated here.

Simulation software allows us to optimise tool design according to the material to be processed and ensures that any potential bugs are eliminated in the virtual environment before production starts. Machining of tools and moulds is completed in-house to exacting tolerances and surface finish, prior to component manufacture.

We have invested heavily in our engineering and programming capabilities. Utilising Delcam PowerMill, Powershape and VisiCad we can react to customer’s requirements with immediate response. Reguarly updating our software effectively shares information and programs in a cost effective electronic standard. Use of a PES (production Engineering Standards) drives engineering standards and an even knowledge base. We believe that our cadcam capabilities are a key differentiator in driving quick response and best in class cost benefits to our customer base throughout the CADCAM design team.
